Create an LTL Shipment

The LTL Shipment creation screen can be reached through two different methods:
A: By creating an LTL shipment through Quick Ship Creation.
B: By Creating an LTL order through Creating an Order and visiting the Shipping Module and clicking on the desired order.

      1. Add Product / Custom Product: Here you can add a product you have already created through the steps on our Knowledge Base article on Add/Maintain a Product or Service, or a custom product. Adding a custom product will ask you to enter the product's description and information.
      2. Product name: This is the name you entered when creating the product, it’ll be used as the commodity description in the BOL.
      3. Quantity is the number of products you’re going to ship. This is then multiplied by the 4. Price/EA and the 5. Unit/Weight (LB) to get the total price and weight for the combined product quantity.
      6. Freight Class: Freight class is a measurement that allows for standard prices across all LTL freight carriers and businesses. It can be determined by measuring the height, width, and length of the shipment, multiplying these three measurements, and dividing the weight of the shipment by the result of this multiplication. You can also use a Freight Class Calculator like this one.
      7. Packaging: The type of packaging your handling units are carrying, like boxes, cases, etc. Avoid using Pallets or Skids in this field.
      8. Packaging count: The number of packages you're shipping of the specified product.
      9. Dimensions: The dimensions per packaging unit. (do not use handling unit dimensions) This will be multiplied by the 8. Packaging count to get the total dimensions of these products.

      10. Pickup Location: The address where this shipment will be picked up. For more information on this check our Knowledge Base article on Adding Alternate Pickup/ShipFrom Locations.
      11. Description: For customers with shipping protection, this is the description that will appear in the Insurance Certificate.
You can learn more about this in our Knowledge Base articles on Shipping Protection and Insurance Certificate Breakdown.
      12. Total Insured Value: The value covered by the Shipping Protection
      13. Quantity and type: The number and type of handling units you require for the complete shipment. This is what will determine your shipping costs according to your rates.

      14. Pickup date and time: The pickup date, earliest and latest times you’d need this shipment picked up. Our carriers suggest having a 4-5 hours window for pickups. Keep in mind that this is only a request and the carrier must confirm that the pickup is scheduled at the requested time. For more information about this check our article on View Active Freight and Parcel Pickups.

When all of the information is complete, click on the Create button that you can see at the bottom of the creation screen.

After this, the shipment will take a moment to schedule. When it's done you'll be able to 15. Download the shipment's paperwork or 16. Email the documents

To see how this information is printed on a BOL, refer to our article on Inxeption BOL Breakdown.

All pickups must be placed with the platform. Inxeption is not responsible for any charges for pickups created outside of the platform.
